FAQ'S

1. When is Spring 2024 Registration?

  • Spring 2024 Registration Opens Friday 12/1 @ 12:00pm

  • Divisions will fill up quickly. If your division is full, you are encouraged to complete the registration process to be added to our waitlist

    • Waitlisted players will be emailed once activated & added to a team roster

  • Registration Closes by Friday 12/15 at 12:00 pm or sooner if waitlist becomes too lengthy

2. When is the Spring 2024 Season?

  • The Spring 2024 Season will run from mid-January to mid-May, here are some season benchmarks to keep in mind (dates subject to change)

  • January 16th -January 19th – mandatory player evaluations & jersey sizing (to be scheduled by age division)

  • January 22nd - practices begin

  • March 1st – opening night

 

3. What is the practice & game schedule/commitment?

  • Each team will have 3 weekly practices at the beginning of the season: 2 weekday practices (1 fielding/1 batting) and one Saturday practice. With the exception of 6U, which will have 1 weekday practice, 1 Saturday practice.  

  • Once games start, teams will play 1-2x per week and will have a practice night as well. Games will be held weeknights, as well as on Saturdays.

  • To accommodate all teams, practices are scheduled between 5:45 pm – 9:00 pm on weeknights and throughout the day Saturday.  

  • In order to play a variety of softball teams, WCAA interlocks with other local parks. Please be prepared to travel a short distance for some games.

4. How many games will teams play?

  • In the Fall, each team will play approximately 10 games. In the Spring, each team will play approimataely 12 games. – weather permitting

  • In the Spring season ONLY, playoffs will be held for suitable divisions at the end of the regular season (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U). 

  • NOTE: 6U and Tball divisions will not have playoffs. 

 5. What equipment will players need? 

  • All players need a glove, bat, fielding mask, cleats and are required to have a helmet with a facemask. If you have questions about appropriate equipment (i.e., bat size/weight, glove, etc.) please refer to our Division Rules page.

6. What does the registration fee pay for?

  • Registration fees pay for uniforms, insurance, umpires, county field fees, lights, equipment, game balls and other expenses. 

 7. What uniforms are provided to the players? 

  • In the Fall, players will recieve: Jersey & Socks. In the Spring, players will recieve: Jersey, Belt & Socks. (Black pants are recommended for softball players and can be purchased on your own.)

*In order to ensure uniforms fit, it is important that accurate sizing is captured at the sizing opportunity during evaluations. If your daughter does not attend a sizing, we will refer to the size provided on her registration. 

 8. What if our child has to miss a practice or game?

  • It is expected that players will attend all practices and games as scheduled, however in the event your child cannot attend due to illness or conflict, please communicate with your coach in a timely manner.

9. Do players receive trophies/awards?

  • In the Spring Season ONLY: All 6U players will receive an award. 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U Division Championship winners and runners up will receive a trophy and award respectively.

10. What division can I register my child to play in?

  • You can only register your child in the player’s league age division.

11. Can I request a specific coach or team because of … ?

  • Due to the number of participants/teams, we are not able to honor specific requests, other than to accommodate siblings on the same team. 

  • Teams are drafted to create balanced, competitive teams.

12. I’d love to get involved and help, what opportunities are available?

  • Our league is 100% volunteer run by parents and community members that asked the same question! We would love for you to join us in ensuring that WCAA Baseball/Softball is a place where athletes can enjoy America’s favorite pastime. Here are some opportunities: 

  • Coaching: The ability to expand our league is dependent on volunteers willing to take a team of their own. There are opportunities to be a head coach/manager, assistant coach, and/or team parent. You can select your preference during the registration process. 

  • Special Events: There are events scheduled throughout the season that we’d love your help with! Whether it's signing up for one shift or helping plan the entire event, we’d love you to join us in making each activity a memorable one! Look for these opportunities on Wesley Chapel Baseball/Softball social media, correspondence with your team, or in the league-wide emails. 

  • Sponsorship: WC Baseball/Softball is a program run by Wesley Chapel Athletic Association, a nonprofit organization. We rely on community support to help grow the league, improvements, and supplies. If you are interested in sponsorship information, please contact fundraising@wcaasports.org 

 13. How will I know what to do next?

  • By registering your player in SportsEngineHQ, you will be included in the league-wide communications sent through email which will include information on next steps, events and the season.
