3. What is the practice & game schedule/commitment?

  • We take pride in teaching the fundamentals and ensuring that each team and player has the opportunity to grow and learn at all levels
  • In order to provide that opportunity, players/families should anticipate being at the park/fields 2-3x per week. At the start of the season, this will be a combination of field and batting practice on the weekdays and a practice on Saturday. Once games start, teams will play 1-2x per week and could possibly have a batting practice night as well, depending on game schedules
  • To accommodate all teams, practices are scheduled between 5:30p – 8:45p on weeknights and throughout the day Saturday

4. How many games will teams play?

  • Each division may have some variation in the total # of games played. However, WCAA strives to commit to 12 games for each team in the Spring – weather permitting. Make-up games may be added to accommodate.
    • NOTE: based on division size, some divisions may interlock with other local baseball organizations

5. What equipment will players need?

  • All players need a glove, bat, cleats and a helmet. If you have questions about appropriate equipment (i.e., bat size/weight, glove, etc.) please ask a coach at evaluations as we have many dedicated volunteers with years of experience. You may also reach out to communications@wccasports.org
  • Helmets with a faceguard are required up to the Rookie Division & HIGHLY recommended for all divisions
  • All non-wood bats must have the “USA Baseball” stamp. Barrel maximum is to be no greater than                 2 and 5/8”. USSSA bats are prohibited within the Recreational league at WCAA. Bats marked “BBCOR .50” are only approved for the 13-15yr.old division and must have a barrel maximum no greater than 2 and 5/8”
  • Any player who plays as a catcher is required to wear a protective cup. Hockey-style masks (single helmet/facemask combo) are mandatory for the Rookie, Minors and Majors Divisions. The Juniors division is permitted to wear the 2-piece skull and face mask combination
  • Undershirt chest protectors are highly recommended for Tball, Aball & Rookie divisions
  • Optional equipment: batting gloves, undershirt chest protector, bat bag, etc.

6. What does the registration fee pay for?

  • Registration fees pay for jersey, hat, belt, insurance, umpires, county field fees, equipment, game balls and other expenses

7. What uniforms are provided to the players?

  • Jersey, Hat, Socks & Belt are included in your Spring registration

NOTE: In order to ensure this apparel is provided timely, it is important that accurate sizing is captured at time of registration and no later than at evaluations where jersey sizing will be set up

8. What if our child has to miss a practice and/or game?

  • You are encouraged to attend all practices and games as scheduled, however in the event your child misses due to illness or conflict, please communicate with the team coach right away
  • Coaches are volunteers and spend time building the lineup & batting order in advance, therefore they need as much notice as possible if a player will be missing
  • Attending practices/games regularly will help with your player’s skill development

9. What division can I register my child to play in?

  • You can only register your child in the player’s league age division
  • Refer to the age chart for division selection
  • Based on skill level and experience, players may be approved to play in a division up or down from their age division based on their evaluation. Skill development, along with a competitive balance throughout the divisions, is a priority for WCAA baseball. Lack of skill or experience should not be a deterrent to registering for the season
